I have a Dell Latitude D620 Laptop. I went off on a business trip without my power cord so bought a non-Dell cord at a local Radio Shack. When I first powered it up I got a message something like"hey, this is a non-Dell power cord" etc., etc. The cord powered the laptop but would not charge the battery which was ok for my purpose at the time.

I've now plugged up my Dell power cord and it will not charge the battery now either. Evidently the unit still thinks I'm using the non-Dell cord? Is there a setting I need to change to get it to recongnize the Dell cord?

Thank you for your help.

Try reinstalling the battery. Also try running the unit without the battery but with the dell power cord, then install the battery again. I haven't heard of this problem before, it seems very specific to Dells. If you don't get much help here maybe try the Dell Support Forum, the folks there are pretty good at this type of stuff.
