possible memory issue

Hi:
I have a question for anyone here, about 9 months ago I built a pc. It ran beautiful for seven and a half months until january when I purchased an additional 512 MB of DDR2 RAM memory. While they were purchased seven and a half months apart they are the same brand same part number pretty much identical well about five minutes after installing it into the system I got the first blue screen since building the system. System specs are:

AMD Sempron 3000+ processor
ECS Elitegroup C51GM-M mobo
Nvidia 256 MB PCI Express video card
1 Gb (512 x 2) DDR2 Memory
I TB of hard disc (2x Maxtor 500 GB Drives) (SATA)
NEC DVD/RW Drive
Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 bit edition

It has been a nightmare since I put that memory stick in so if anyone could offer any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

test the stick on it's own in place of the one you were using before to see if it still causes issues. do you know how to use memtest86+?

Hi:
Ouch I ran memtest86 for windows 64 bit edition after removing the original chip and ouch it showed 475 errors for all unused RAM. So I am opted to believe that the chip is no good and I return it to the manufacturer for a replacement.
