OK folks I'd greatly appreciate some advice. I have:

Intel Q6600
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640mb
Gigabyte GA-73PVM S2H motherboard
4 GB DDR2 RAM
One SATA hard drive
One IDE cable with a CD RW and a DVD R on it
500 Watt CoolPower Power Supply
Windows XP Pro SP2
PS. This computer ^ never had internet hooked up to it, it is absolutely spyware/virus free.

This setup is only about 2 months old, and the motherboard is only about a month old, because it already got replaced under warranty once, and the power supply got replaced under warranty at the same time.

Lately this computer would just abruptly for no apparent reason shut down. Sometimes I could start it back up, and it would keep going for the rest of the day. Other times, after i started it up it would only run for a very short time and then crash. And then crash even quicker. Sometimes it would run for a couple days without any issues. I thought it was due to heat, so I tried cooling my room down to 20C (68F), but it still did the same thing. I thought it was due to a faulty power cable (I know, unlikely) so I used a brand new one. No dice. All the fans always ran.

Yesterday I tried to fire it up and it would go to the XP loading bar screen, and then give me a "blue screen of death" Then it would reboot and go to the "how would you like to start windows" options screen. No matter which option I pick (start windows normally, etc. etc.) it always does the same thing. Today, the XP loading bar thing barely shows up, and then the blue screen flashes for a fraction of a second and it starts rebooting. I tried in the BIOS to go into the CMOS and BIOS settings and use the failsafes, but no dice.

Can you guys tell, just from that information whether this motherboard I have is just done again? (Ive been told its a POS) Or-- is this a hard drive type issue? Maybe my motherboard malfunctioning caused a HD to crash? I have no idea... But any help would be greatly appreciated. I dont really know what the **** to do with it. I'd like to fix it myself, but I gotta somehow figure out where the problem is before I start replacing stuff..

Thanks in advance!!

anyway, heres some pics of it I took back when I just got it:

try using a different power supply. if u cant get your hands on another one, take the power supply u currently have and try it on a friends or family computer. if that doesnt work has to be mb

havent tried reinstalling the OS if that's what you mean, 'cause it doesn't really seem like a software issue to me.. I could be wrong though..

And yeah, thats not a bad idea with the PS I'm going to do that. I was going to do that with my hard drive.. take the hard drive and plug it into this other computer and see if it works. I think these 2 tests are the most logical next step I guess.. thanks for the input though:cool:
