Performance Loss upgrading to x64?

ok i was getting about 10k - 12k in 3D Mark 03 with Xp Pro not long ago and i upgraded my HD to a Sata II 250 gig 16 meg buffer WD with x64 windows and now that i have all the drivers for x64 i ran 3d Mark 03 and im gettin 7k ish and i dunno if its really equal to teh 10 - 12 in 32 bit or if x64 just messes ur performance but id like to fix it either way, any help or suggestions would be great!


Hardware!

Windows XP x64 Pro
Asus a8n-e mobo
AMD 64 3000+
ATi x700 Pro Video
1 gig Corsair (3200)
and the previously listed HD

I would suggest not running x64 unless you have to, because the compatibility is so low its not worth the little extra speed
