Torrent was more than likely infected. Next time think twice about using pirated software.

You'll need to run a Malwarebytes scan, Avast boot scan, and run HJT and post the logs.

Sounds like a registry and driver program problem within windows.
I had a similiar issue to his last year in july 2013.
Only difference it was a scansoft download from some old website.

Have him run this first before he does malwarebytes.

He said in the OP he already did Revo.

The way it's acting and how it slows his computer down is virus territory considering it was pirated software.

Start -> type: msconfig -> Startup tab -> find anything related to PhotoShop, or anything in the AppData folder and uncheck it (as well as any others you don't want... if you're not sure, post the name/path here).

I still don't buy that though, he said he uninstalled it.
He said he rebooted and the .exe from adobe photo shop was still there.
The program registrys relating to it maybe corrupted and damaged.

Thats why I mention he look into revo or a better program uninstaller to get rid of it.
Just to be sure, he could open up control panel and check add/remove programs list.
To make sure its gone, if not and the icon blank then it is like I stated.

If I didn't think it was this, I wouldn't mentioned anything to him.

Yea if you uninstall something and it keeps trying to install later that is going to be the work of malicious software. The biggest clue to this would be the fact that he admitted to it being pirated. 90% of Adobe torrents out there are infected.

Maybe but in some cases .exe maybe damaged wether the original author injected in infection to the program or not.
If he ran the crack, keygen or what not in the package, then yes pp I could agree with you on it.
If not I say something went wrong, we'll see when he comes back.
