PC wont boot with KB plugged in.....

Ok, So we have a computer that doesn't seem to want to boot with the KB plugged in. I know the obvious thing would be to plug in another KB and try it out....going to do that in about 20 minutes.

However, when I take the KB out, it boots up just fine. When I plug the KB back in, there are 6 short beeps and the computer halts warning me that there is no KB.

This is a brand new MoBo and the CompuSmart said that everything was working fine before I brought it home.

Any opinions before I start troubleshooting it?

Is it a USB or PS2 keyboard? If it's USB, make sure USB keyboard support is enabled in your BIOS.

seems it was just his KB. We tried another KB in it and everything works fine.

weird the keyboard probably had a short in it and the computer fail-safed itself.
