PC freezes and loops sounds

Hello, I'm kriss and I'm posting this hoping someone here could help me with my problem. Sorry if i post this in the wrong place but I'm new to the forums. So let me get started on the problem I'm having, everytime i use my PC to play a game it just freezes, showing the last image displayed on the monitor and it loops the last heard sound. The only way I can get rid of this is to do a hard reset. Anyone has any idea on what could cause those issues? I ran memtest and it came clean so i really don't know what's wrong...maybe the motherboard being too old? Should i reinstall the windows?
Pc specifications:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Motherboard: Asus P5k
RAM: 4GB DDR2
CPU: Intel E6750 @ 2.66GHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560

thanks mushocho, i managed to finally fix it, it seemed like it wasn't audio related at all, i solved it by switching the GPU slots on the motherboard
