Default Pc Crashing when Using VmWare

My Pc is Crashing I believe only when using Vmware. I recently upgraded my pc and 2 of the components I think may be causing this are.

DDR 3 1600 Mhz Kingston Ram
XFX Amd 6970 GPU

I believe I know the answer to this and would like a second input, Please see below.

Im playing Diablo 2 ( I Know its soooo old and GPU could do so much better but hey ). I wanted to get more than one game up at anyone time and without violating blizzards 3rd party software policy the only thought was a Virtual OS. So I aquired VmWare and continued to install Diablo 2 on this as well as the Host OS.
Now Diablo 2 Uses Direct3D and Vmware is still in experimental stages with Direct3d and The Draw thingy.

Im getting Pink Lines across the screen when it crashed and have no choice but to hold the power button for 4 seconds.

Does this douns like a Direct3d Problem? If so im 100% sure Vmware is causing this as Ive ram Crysis 1 and 2 off this Setup without any problems leaving my thoughts to the Experimental Stages of VmWares Direct3D.

Any help and thought are greatly appreciated. Thanks
