I had tried to turn my computer on last night and found that windows xp wouldnt load because of a disk read error. I tried switching the sata cables into different ports to see if that could help. It came to a point that the mobo stopped posting at all. I already tried resetting the cmos by pulling out the battery. Any ideas on how to start the mobo or what could be a problem with my hard drives?

Pull everything off the board. No video card, no memory, no cpu. Just the board and the power supply plugs. Try to boot and see if it gives you any beep codes. If you get no beep code, the next thing to test is the PSU. Look up paper clip trick. If you do get beep codes, put the cpu and cooler back in, repeat, and then memory, repeat, etc until you either stop getting the error code from the board or it boots.

thanks for the tip but i got it figured out now, one of my ram sticks was faulty and i have no idea what happened to my hdd but it magically became unpartitioned and i had to reinstall xp
