Default overheating graphics card

Hello, this is my 1st post so go easy.

my graphics card has suddenly started to overheat causing my pc to reboot. my screen goes all starburst just before it crashes. i managed to keep the heat down uing a house hould fan but i want to perminantly fix it if possible

other than the house hold fan i have a heatsink and a fan just for the gfx card

iv also tried a differentcard and all works well

the card with the problem is a nvidea 6200.

sorry if this makes no sence :P

ok first off did you buy your pc as a whole unit? if so is the warranty still running? if not then your option is to either:

1. buy a new graphics card

2. remove the heatsink reapply some thermal paste and put heatsink back on.

How clean is the heatsink? Perhaps there's a lot of dust in there.

not dusty then other option is thermal paste, although it could just be your graphics card is on its way out as well.

download ntune or rivatuner to actually see how hot the GPU is getting.
