Optical Drive Failing

Uninstall and reinstall the driver from the device manager,
Reseat the cables of the drive,
System resotre (ME, XP only)
Look for update.
Go through MSconfig, (www.sysinfo.org for help on identifing files)
if that does not fix the problem
run a recovery by removing all addtional hardware other then mouse, keyboard, monitor and the power cable
If that does not fix the problem
Replace the drive.

So nothing i did worked and i decided just to buy a whole new drive anyway..... Thanks for the help guys.
