Not working HD?

HI everyone,

So here it goes,

my mom just got a new computer, and she wants to get the pics off her old computer, but the old one has screwed up bios(i think) and isnt working

so i took out the HD and installed it in my computer, my computer sees the HD as drive "E" but when I try to "explore" the HD, windows askes me "this drive not formatted, would you like to format this drive?" and of cours i dont, or i would lose the pics,'

what do i do so that i can explore this HD and get off all the pics?

do both computers run on the same OS?

well the old one runs XP service pac1 Home

mine is XP serice pac2 PRO

it maybe somthing to do with the two OS's not reacognising the format. thou they should be if its both XP.

ya i know right nowe 2000 thought vista all can under stand each others OS going in increaseing order
EXE: 2000 cant understand XP but XP can under stand it

but now my computer just crashed like 5 mins ago and its not reconizing it !!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh

also afer it crashed it wouldnt start untill i took out hre old HD
