Not turning on?

hey guyys.. i need some help on my friends computer.. well basically he wanted to move his hp to a new one and when we put the pwr sw to the spot where its supposed to be.. i press the pwr and it didnt turn on . i pressed the rest and it turned on for half a second then turned off.. any ideas? the floppy and cd drive arent hooked up iono if that would mess it up.. so yeah everything matches fine.. cept the pwr sw part and the reset.. i dunno if i put it in the right slot. but when i pressed the reset it turned for half a second.. il try to post some pix later.. i have tomoro to finish xD thanks guys for ur help
