no display/beeping. faulty board?

hey guys, i just received my new MoBo in today. i installed it, booted it up to no display on my monitor and my pc has 1 long beep and 3-4 short beeps. i reseated everything! even my cpu. tried both PCIE slots. reseated everything and messed with it for like 1 1/2 hours. still get no display and beeping. so i reinstalled my old motherboard and everything booted right up. the old board is a Biostar A880g+ and the new board is a GIGABYTE 970A-3dp. my other hardware is


CPU- Phenom II x4 965 BE

GPU- MSI Radeon 6950

PSU- Corsair TX 650w

RAM- 2x4GB G.Skill Sniper 1333

SSD-Vertex4

HDD- forget brand 1TB 7200rpm

cpu cooler- Ultra Chilltec



and yes i tried to clear Cmos. so is the board just faulty? i figured i would ask before i wait weeks for neweggs RMA.

also, after starting the pc up i can hear the win7 startup theme.

1 long 3 short beep code shows a keyboard error according to the manual. You can see the other beep codes listed in the Trouble Shooting section of the manual

yeah but that can't possibly be the reason why there is no display

It actually can be, yes.
The system will refuse to POST when something regarding the system is wrong.
When it refuses to POST, you get no screen/display.

never in a million years would i have thought the keyboard would be the cause of that. i plugged the power in and the GPU and it worked. then i went 1 by 1 and it just worked from there on out. same keyboard works too. maybe it was just it's first run

Typically continous beeping/no display would firstly indicate RAM

It depends on the number of beeps.

Yes that's why I said continous. It may not always but good place to start.
And when your not getting any display that's a common RAM issue
