Hi...I have a Toshiba Satellite A35-S1592 notebook and
I keep getting an
ERROR 680 (No DialTone) whenever I try to dial-up my
internet connection.
This all started happening after I took my notebook on
a trip and used my
wireless internet while away. Ever since being back my
dial-up modem has not
worked. I've uninstalled/reinstalled it many times
thinking this might be the
problem, but no go! In the modem diagnostics screen
when I Query the modem it
says "success" alot! (I don't really know what i'm
looking for here.)
Does anybody know of a sure way of diagnosing a phone
modem to tell if it's bad??

All help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Rob

Make sure the phone wire is firmly plugged into the wall and the modem and ensure that phone line is connected into the line input of the modem.
Ensure that nothing else is using the phone line.
If none of the above works, you've probably got a bad modem that will need to be replaced.

remove the check mark from wait for dial tone before dialing, put ,, in both fields near to access an outside line, and then in properties string (copy anything u see) add &fx3 and try it, if nothing then put original string in again... if still nothing undo what u did, reinstall the DUN and once more. If that doesn't work then use term and connect to a board if nothing after that then the modem is fried.
