This is a new system I put together:
ASUS A8N SLI PREMIUM BIOS v.1005
AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ Venice
MSI NX6600GT TD128E
ANTEC SOHO File Server Tower 400W psu
Seagate 200GB HDD
1GB DDR400 KINGMAX (2 X 512M)
(Nothing overclocked)
LG Flatron 17"
So you can see, this config is designed more for what I can get later, rather than what I've got. eg:dual 7800's & fx/x2 chip...
I installed WinXP and all the system drivers etc, DirectX 9c, then Empire Earth II. It plays well, I chose everything rediculously huge - gigantic map, lots of water & animals, high def, & it runs fine. Then, at some random point, could be after an hour, could be after a few minutes, I get a black screen, no keyboard, but the machine's still whirring... so i've turned off all power saving... same... so i reinstalled EE2... uh-uh... so I left it running without ee2... was fine for a day... switched over to TV, same again... and it doesn't wake either, it's restart button time.... the audio goes too... looking in the BIOS I was befuddled with the ACPI APIC settings under Power... I'm lost, suggest something... Tried with Intervideo WinDVD Suite running, crashed after aboutan hour, then after reboot crashed after a few minutes... Could the video card be overheating? I really don't know... Oh, and this is my first AMD, previously had a P4..
