Updated an older computer with a newer Asus P5P800 motherboard, and Intel P4 630 chip, and kept the Windows 98 SE operating system. Did a clean reinstall of Windows on formated drive.

Reinstalled all of the devices from scratch including the ATI Radeon 7500 video card. The video card is not happy. On boot up get the message " There is a problem with your display settings the adapter type is incorrect or the current settings do not work with your hardware." The video adapter keeps droping back to 16 colors; even at basic 16 colors I get the previous message on boot up. Unistalled the ATI drivers and reinstalled same problem. Any ideas !! Cheers....George

I've got the right drivers, I have the ATI disk that came with the video card. I was thinking it might be an IRQ assignment problem. The motherboard documentation states that the
AGP slot is shared but I can't find in the ATI documentation whether the Radeon card works with "shared" slots. Cheers...George
