Well, now i'm back in gparted, I go to format the disc and it now errors saying mkntfs -Q -v -L ~~ /dev/sda1

Just to clear something up, are you putting windows on this new drive or is it just for storage?

Well, im going to say that the hard drive is just bad! thats it, nothing else i can do. heck my other tb hard drive works fine and it to is a sata. This one just refuses to format. I cannot change it from RAW to ntfs i've done everything. I SURRENDER!!!!!

I would send it back to who you bought it from, and ask for an exchange for a new one, since it's DOA.
