new build and mic not working

plugged in right. had installed the drivers fresh off the cd that came with the motherboard, and even checked for anything that might look like it was disabled in the bios.

my motherboard is an evga nForce 680i SE SLI.

The device manager looks okay i guess except for some other device that i doubt it the problem @_@

Sound works perfect but when I use my mic friends just get crap noise and no voice. Yes, it works in all my other computers.

some other drivers I may need to install?

i would first recommend going to the motherboard manufacturers website and trying to find some updated drivers. if there aren't any new ones, try reinstalling the current ones. if that doesn't work. it may also be a faulty port.

that is all so general. i have done that already anyway. i feel like it is so much easier and maybe I just don't know how to configure the **** Realtek HD Audio Manager or something
