Unhappy Network Card problems

I have a pretty old pc with windows xp pro sp3 installed on it, and 3 days ago i started to have some serios problems, flash crashing, random BSOD and decided to install linux mint. I installed it with no problem but when i started using the internet i noticed that the internet speed was very slow so i tought that maybe i needed to update the network card drivers.
After updating the drivers i had no internet at all so i reintalled windows xp and everything works fine except the damm internet, its slow as hell and i have a pretty good connection
