Default Need Help with my ram please

I have a biostar k8hna grand MB with 2x512 corsair ram... it was working fine earlier till I took my xms series ram and was testing it on the machine, Now my 2x512 is being read as 2x256... wtf? ive never even heard of this... when i attempt to just leave 1 in the slot it is still read as 256mb. These are 512 sticks that worked fine earlier.

reset the CMOS by either using the reset jumper or removing the battery or both. obviously unplug your computer while you do this
