Does anyone have any ideas? Hes offering to pay me to find him something that will fix it. It will now detect the hdd but it says "unable to boot... insert system disc". What should he do? I really appreciate the help.

if it has been detected intermittently in bios check all the connections to the hdd again. could be the psu not supplying the drive enough power. but it definitely seems to be a hardware problem.

hehehe, he fixed it. They had the wrong molex connector and the SATA drive was plugged into slot 4. Thanks for the help anyways.

Hey, thanks for all the info here. 2 of my friends have had the exact same issue as yours. You mentioned that they had the wrong molex connector, what did you mean by this?

Some S-ATA drives use a smaller power connector for the drives, they are the same length of a 4 pin Molex connector but are smaller in height and are straight edged. Some drives can take both types.
