Default Need Help Buying Sound Card

I often record myself playing guitar, by plugging the output of my amp into my computer. The problem is that my sound card can not take the amplification or something and so will come out distorted if the signal is too loud (which it is when I'm playing with distortion).
I keep having to lower the volume on the amp and the mic input on my pc (but doing this destroys the tone).
The thing is im not exactly sure how to look for a new soundcard. I've looked at some and none of them say a signal stength capability or similar.
I just really need advice about what to look for. I'll probably be buying from

First of all, be smart and buy from Newegg.

Second: here's a card that will do what you want it to. Note that there's an incredible rebate right now. Get it while it's still there.

I found this one on ebuyer, which is actually around the same price (including the rebate).
It looks the same but a later version so it should work right?
