I was watching Troy, when all of the sudden, the computer rebooted. When it began to load back up, it gave me the message that system32/ntfs was missing or corrupted. It also suggested that I run the restore program from the XP Disk. I tried that and also got errors.

I took my computer apart and re-seated everything thinking that something may have popped lose. Now I am not even getting any video signal. Crap! What is the deal here. I just did a recent re-install of XP and haven't really loaded much, and am not connected to the internet, so I doubt it was malware. What is the deal?

Am I going to have to replace something?

"Now I am not even getting any video signal. Crap!"

So its not even getting Past POST now? Or it is and its just not loading windows == Black Screen after POST?

I would try to backup all important data ASAP. Slave the Drive in another computer and try to recover anything important to you.

I switched monitors, and now I am getting video signal.

One of the errors that I get when I enter XP Setup is this:

/i386/c_437.nls

...and when I do not boot from a CD, it gives me this error:

/system32/drivers/pci.sys is missing or corrupt.

The hard drive is a Hitachi Deskstar and it is only a year old.
