As a help to anyone who may run into this issue.
I as some know installed 1333 RAM 6 Gigs into my MSI X58 Platinum SLI
But the BIOS refused to recognize it above 1066.
I contacted MSI after some forum help on here and found out that there was indeed a new BIOS ver. and it was a bug.
well the tech at MSI sent me a ftp pw and told me to get a certain version and flash it with a usb bootable thumb drive.
I did so and my computer would not post. it froze at the 5th usb drive everytime.
the different boards have the exact same model number wich makes no sense..and he sent me the wrong one BIOS info.
I finally figured out that the MSI Platinum does not have the board usb connections where the SLI version does I unplugged the usb ports on the front of my case from the board and it booted right up.
flashed with the correct BIOS ver and now my RAM is at 1333 and the USB connections could be plugged back in.
I looked all over for this issue and found none anywhere so i thought with these boards becomming more common and the BIOS issue i would just stick it up here. as a fyi. hope it helps someone sometime.
