Default Motherboard Won't POST

My friends AsRock Dual-Vsta 939 motherboard doesn't post. He said he tried to turn it on one day, it posted but then said "yoyoyo" and froze. I assume its a virus but now the motherboard refuses to respond. I tried disconnecting everything and even pulling out the ram, trying to force it to beep but it doesn't. I assume its toast and no local stores carry 939's anymore.

My question is, is it toast? Did the bios become corrupt somehow? Is it fixable?

go through the usual trial and error troubleshooting process, pretending your friend didn't give you any information as his may not have been helpful.
