Motherboard Replacement

I identified the motherboard as the problem with my computer. I am going to replace it with this one:

I checked and it should work in the computer.

What I was mainly wondering was, if I replace the motherboard will I still be able to use the recovery disks to restore the computer.

I don't think you will be able to repair, but you might be able to completely re-install windows. Unless the OEM has a bios lock in it and then you will need another copy of Windows.

I am pretty sure that the motherboard fits everything and I know it is replaceable.

If it is a completely different motherboard than the last one, you could have problems installing off the recovery disks. If it is an OEM copy of Windows (which you have an HP so I am betting it is) then it may have a bios lock incoporated into the the code, so it won't work with the new motherboard. I mean, you may get it to work, and you may not.
