Motherboard issue?

I recently sat down at my computer to discover that the only thing visible was my cursor. I restarted my computer and at POST, a 304 Keyboard or System Unit Error. I tried replacing and unplugging the keyboard and mouse, but nothing worked.

EDIT: After this error, it boots up normally until it reaches the desktop. The screen goes black so that you can't see anything, except you can see the cursor and even move it around.

Does anyone know anything about this? Suggestions?

Turn your computer on and keep hitting the F8 key till a menu comes up. Then choose last known good configuration if that doesnt work do again and chose safe mode. If you get into windows go into help and on the right colum second from bottom choose restore computer and set it back a few days.
