I got a PC Based CCTV system on site. It's connected to 2 monitors.
Monitor 1 is a small 18" Monitor connected in the office.
Monitor 2 is a 22" Monitor connected via 25 meters (164 feet) of monitor cable.
Type of monitor cable being used is a 15 Pin VGA. Video card is a low end HD2600 Radion.

The system has been working with out a hitch for the last 6 months.
Few days ago, the Monitor 2 when extremely dimm. You can just make out what is on the screen if you look close enought. You turn the monitor off and on. It will show the what is on the screen for about 5 seconds then go dimm.

So I connect my laptop up to the monitor2, and it does the same thing.
Originally i am thinking that it's a faulty back light.

I am talking with the client and he telling me that monitor 2 is very important for him. So I grab monitor 1 from the office and connected to the same out put and same power plug and monitor cable. Now I am getting no signal error messages. So not I am questioning whether it's the monitor or the cable.

I have had some people commment to me that if I am running a long monitor cable that I might need to get a signal booster.
Would it also be possible that the heat we have been getting in in the last few days might be affecting this? And if so, how can we deal with it?
