Default monitor or video card?

I have an AOC LM729 LCD monitor and an nVidia FX 5200 card. They're both only about 2 years old. About a week ago, the monitor got dim (like a laptop does when you pull the plug on it to save power). It was like that for a few seconds then came back to full brightness. The past few days it's been doing that a little more often. The whole screen actually went black for a few seconds the other day. The monitor light stays green (not orange) the whole time. Any idea as to whether this may be a video card or monitor issue?

Thanks!

Default Re: monitor or video card?

Easiest thing to do would be to either swap to the onboard video (if you have it) and see if the monitor keeps acting up, or swap monitors and see if the same thing happens. Its possible the backlight in your monitor is starting to go out.
