Monitor/Vid Card? problem

So i've had this computer for 2 years now, everything has worked fine but lately the monitor goes black sometimes, even though the signal light is green. When i turn the monitor off then on again it will have display for about 2 seconds then goes black, signal light stays green. If i restart the computer the monitor stays black until the windows loading logo screen appears then then monitor display starts working again. Really wierd i have no clue if its the card or monitor maybe because the monitor is 5 years old maybe. Any help would be great!

The age of the monitor does not matter. Most likely, you have a bad backlight. To test this, when your LCD goes blank, take a flashlight and shine at it on a 45* angle. If you can see your desktop, you have a bad backlight.
