Default Monitor resolution on my pc

I bought a 19" lcd monitor, but cant seem to change my screen resolution any higher than 1024X768. My video card on the computer is a Radeon 9600pro 256mb from2 years ago, could this be the problem? If not what can I do?

Update the drivers for the card and see what that does.

my monitor can only handle that resolution tops too, its becuase that resolution is made for HDTV out support. You can go to the display properties and put it up as high as you need it but at a certain piont it the monitor wont read it.

My TV (HD) can support the highest resolution though....
