Monitor power saving issue

I have a IBM C220p thinkvision monitor which goes into power saving mode while playing video games at resolutions above 1024 by 768. When it goes into power saving mode I have to restart my computer.
I'm not sure if it matters, but i have an AGP geforce 6800gt. Power saving is disabled in windows and my BIOS.

are you sure it's just the moniter? not the computer going into standby mode? i've had computers that had *****y lancards that casued them to have issues with standby

My old monitor never had problems with it. When it happens the monitor says power saving mode so windows is not in standby.
