Default Monitor Getting Worn Out?

I have just noticed a permanent, very, very thin black line that stretches from one side of my monitor to the other. What may have caused this and is there a way to fix it? Is it getting time to get a new monitor? I have had this one for at least 4 or 5 years.

Hello,

What type of monitor do you have? CRT or LCD?

A lot of CRT uses two wires - nothing you can do about it. Its the way they were designed.

At about 1/4 and 3/4 of the screen, horizontally.

Open notepad and maximize it to see the wires. If you have a 15" monitor there's only 1 wire in the middle; 17"and upwards have two of these wires. All aperture-grill monitors have these. It should be very faint.
