Monitor/display problem

Hi, wondering if anyone can help me.

Took the downstairs pc upstairs to another room. The monitor was connected by DVI before and worked flawlessly.

Upstairs, I only have a Samsung LCD to connect the pc to. The TV works absolutely fine with my laptop by connecting by VGA, however not for the PC. No signal/black screen on the tv when connected PC by VGA.

Why is it working fine downstairs on the monitor by DVI but upstairs not by VGA on my Samsung TV? Doesn't make sense to me.

Also, when I first started it up after connecting everything, the display did come on, but I had to restart before it got into windows (as it was booting up) and after no luck. Probably not relevant though, since I've double checked and everything is fine.

what video card is installed?

i would try different display modes for the video card. i'm thinking a signal isnt being sent out over vga. try cloning the displays.

or the tv isnt compatible with the resolution or refresh settings

or switch to another input on the tv.
