Hi
I have been using an old CRT monitor for a couple of years now, and during the last year it has become very blurry. The image often shrinks vertically, and flickers once in a while. What I don't understand is why the monitor continues to be blurry, even when I go to lowest resolution, at the highest frequency possible.
Are these just symptoms of the screen being old?

These are symptoms of either the monitor dying ot the video card dying.

fast reply =P

The computer is relatively new, so I doubt its the graphics card. Also, it works great plugged to a projector.
So, I should get a new monitor? Or is there some trick to repairing it?

I have attempted to fix a monitor since you can get a relatively nice one for about 130-150. Worth much more than the trouble of ripping it open if you ask me.

Being a old CRT there is no way i would ever suggest you open it up for repair. the Cathode Ray Tube can hold a deadly charge for a period of years. Jsut a single touch could kill you.

i would suggest you just cut your lose with this monitor and get a new one.
