Question Missing AGP slot from Gateway 510S

OK - I am working on this comp, I gave advice to buy this with my family, and I made sure it had AGP.

So lo and behold I open it now two years later, and there is no AGP slot.

Ive built some comps before and stuff, and its no biggie for this upgrade, but then this... I talked to gateway, no help.

Attached is a photo. You can see the soldering joints on the PCB, and and outline RIGHT where the AGP slot should be. 3 holes I imagine are for mounting the brown, pin slot which is the agp...

SO - with no help from gateway and an hour talk with tech support there, I am asking you guys for help. Is there a way I can get the slot part to mount on??? Can a custom computer shop do this? Here is a link that gateway sent me -

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERB...520576mv.shtml

They told me thats my motherboard. So obviously it was supposed to have agp.

Thanks for any help!

you could get a new mobo, btu do you have the install disk for windows, driver disk, etc... you will have to reload the system again. but the abover biostar should work... but the question is:

Would it be worth it to upgrade an aging dying (not completely dead) socket OR

Save your money and build an updated system that will let you do more of today's games, programs, etc...

Definitely.

Pop a cheap PCI video card in that one and let the wife or brothers/sisters have it.

If you can handle mid to low range (for around here, which would be a top of the line gaming system elsewhere), we can help you put together a decent system for $500-$750 bucks.

Yeah, new mobo is the only solution. Probably this model hasn't got some chips needed to support AGP. Long time ago, my granddad had s478 mobo with place for ISA slot (it wasn't any slot there)
