Microphone issue still not resolved

Followed all microphone troubleshooting steps....to further explain
when I go into:
Sounds & Audio Devices Properties - Audio Tab - Sound Recording
do NOT have option of Advanced
I did at one time but where do I go to select it??
When I open up Master Volume/Options:
Advanced Controls are selected
Properties for playback & recording are all selected
Mic is unmuted and Advanced option is available

So it should work right??....well it doesn't...does NOT pass the test hardware nor can I record my voice on the Sound Recorder

NOW WHAT?? -- my prob doesn't seem to follow the usual...is most unusual

Do you have another sound card located in the computer you can test, or another working computer that you can test the microphone with?

verify the microphone works and if this is onboard sound that fails a lot my microphone used to not work with my onboard sound so i just bought my sound card and it was worth it and fixed the problem.
