I have a one year old Maxtor One Touch II extrernal USB 300 GB drive. Last evening I switched on the drive just to discover the two blue lights located on the front of the drive flashing together at a fairly fast rate. This happens regardless of if the drive is connected to the pc or not. The drive is not recognized at all even using diagnostics from the cdrom disc which came with the drive. If anybody familiar with this drive can help with a possible cause/solution please reply.

I have contacted customer support with Maxtor. I just wanted a perhaps quicker heads-up on the topic through this forum.

Thank you

You can always open it up and assuming it is a PATA type HD connect it to your secondary IDE channel to see if works. Assuming the jumpers on the hd and if your pc has anything else connected to the secondary or uses cable select and is also PATA.

Thank you LA1. The drive works like a charm as an internal PATA drive. I should have thought of that myself (lol).

Thanks again.
