Default Mass Storage device not in My Computer

Bought a new WD 2.0 terabyte SATA HD, new Roswell External SATA case, for an external mass storage back up. Plug it into USB port, turn on, blue light of activity comes one, Windows 7 installs drivers, I can see the device in Device manager, but not in My Computer. Same thing happens on both my and my wife's windows 7 comps. What am I missing here? do I need to plug it into my comp SATA and format it or initialize it or something?

Yeah, I figured it out, Disk management, had to initialize it, took me a few tries to finally get it. Thanks for the help.
