Default Malfunctioning HDD

Hello,

The other day my D: drive just vanished from mycomputer window, and i can no longer access the data. When I run a drive checker it Fails the Short-DST test, and suggests that I run the DOS checker because it can fix the problem sectors. If anyone has experience doing this and could give me some tips that would be great

Hey there!

Try these two links:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

MS-DOS chkdsk command help

Does your mobo (BIOS) recognize the drive that went missing?

What "drive checker" are you running? SeaTools? WD Lifeguard?

It means to use that software's DOS version to run it outside of Windows and attempt to repair the drive.
