Question Macbook missing gig of RAM

my girlfriends computer originally had 2gigs of DDR2 RAM and then she made an account for her sister who only downloads music from itunes and browses the interwebs. A few days ago I took a look at her laptop again to discover that a gig of RAM is missing! How is this possible?

Someone took it out.

Run memtest and see what it says.

When you say 'missing' do you mean the actual stick is missing, or the laptop only reports one stick as being installed?

I was wondering this as well. I suppose since he's posting on a tech forum the lap top is only reporting one stick?
