I have a M305CRV Gateway laptop. It was online during a thunder storm. I left it on went on an errand and when I returned the laptop was off. I believe that a power surge can through the phone line because the phone on the same line was dead.
I have tested the sticks of RAM and they are both good and I have tested the hard drive and it still works. I opened the laptop up and pressed the power button. The light comes on then goes back off again. The second the light comes on the fans starts then stops as well.
What could be the problem? And what are the chances that it is the CPU and Motherboard? Would it be better to just sell it as parts, or fix it?
