Lite On LDW-401S won't recognize blank DVD+RWs

I've had thsid rive for awhile and ahve burnt plenty of CDs and played DVD, but wanted to burn a DVD recently and it refuses to see the blank Maxell DVD+RW I put in. I have a whole pack and tried 5 different ones with the same results. Drive makes a lot of noise and is active for 1-2 min but dones't see a disc in the drive. Tried Alcohol 120 and Nero. I'm on Win XP sp2 .

I also updated the firmware on the drive with no luck.

Any ideas?

How do I do that?

I tried to do "format" in Nero but it will not do so because it says tehre is no disc in the drive, and to please insert a blank dvd.

Right Click on the DVD drive in My Computer and click Format. I usually have to format my RW's to get them to work.

Just tried that and there's no format option on mine.
