Laptop video card overheating?

I have a gateway fx 7xxx series ( not sure of the number off hand)

When i first bought it i could play farcry 2, l4d and al ot of other games at pretty high settings without issues.

now the only game it can play is WoW otherwise i get graphic artifacts and sorta looks like static but not exactly.

I realize i'm probably **** out of luck but i'm wondering if there is anything i can do to maybe fix the issue or help it.

Use nvidia or ati control panel to increase fan speed before entering a game.
