Laptop shuts down

My crappy laptop I have at my dads house keeps shutting down mid diablo 2. It's reaching about 70 degrees celcius and its a p4 2.4 ghz, is there anything I can do to try and stop this crashing?

is 70c the cpu core temp? bc ATX motherboards are made to shutdown when the cpu overheats.

Ya thats exactly the problem, what can I do to cool it though. Without speending money.

with a laptop? hmm the only think i can think of is keeping it on a flat hard surface, not your lap. maybe something that will conduct some of the heat like a sheet of metal and rotate it around when it gets warm. i suppose if ur really desperate you could keep an ice pack underneath the metal sheet or a towel? anything else i can think of involves $.
