Laptop keeps trying to boot but never does

Hi all,
HP Pavilion, DV6000 with windows XP sp2 64, was shut down yesterday while everything was working fine, today on start up it ocntinued to boot but didn't boot, and kept restarting but never actually booting. Last action taken on it was installing silverlight watching a Netflix movie and closing down. What's happening here, any ideas?

I just turned it on again and there was one long and two short lowd beeps, it that provides any clue, but still nothing happeninig.

Are you able to boot into Safe Mode?

Can't boot period. So far I have found that one long and two short loud beeps mean video card problem or bad contact solder, what do you think?

Sorry forgot to mention the display is black i.e. not on at all

Try unplugging the entire system and then plug everything back in and then try starting it again.
