Laptop crashes when plugged into HDMI cable

computer: Toshiba satellite

TV: Toshiba 32" television

when i plug the cable into the laptop the computer outright crashes and will not restart with the cable connected, once a person unplugs the cable the laptop will restart. I dont get any error messages or anything. Running windows vista, any help would be great.

What happens when you try to start the laptop with the cable plugged in? If it doesnt load anything then it is unlikey that its a software issue. There is likely a hardware issue with the HDMI GFX card.

otherwise, try installing new drivers for the card.
