Hi, i own an NEC laptop and its not running at the speed it should. In the bios it says its a 2400mhz p4 cpu and has 256 of ram, but wen i start up my computer in cpuz it says it only runs at 1599mhz and onyl has 224mb of ram?? anybody know why that is and i cant find an option in the bios that allows me to change the FSB.

Your help is much appreciated!

your CPU is probably underclocking itself when not under load to conserve battery power.

Run prime95 then have a look in CPU-z at the same time.

Edit: I imagine the missing ram is being shared with your graphics.
