Kill HDD files

If the hard disk is fairly old with low capacity and you dont need the cash then just attack it with a hammer - great for stresss release.

How about "shredding" the free space that has been written over before, but still has remnants of data on it?

Will a HD reformat completely clear everything off the HD?

A reformat leaves just about EVERYTHING on the disk.

if i ever want to sell one of my HDD's i want to make sure.

Why would someone want to by a used hard drive? They are not that expensive to buy a new one.

So once I reformat a HD, best to have an app like Killdisk completely "clean" the disk before I use it again (if I want to completely clear all the data)?
